Christmas Parcel Update
With the drawdown of troops from Afghanistan, numbers remaining in a mentoring capacity are greatly reduced therefore, it follows that the parcel requirement for Christmas this year, but still including those at other overseas locations, is substantially reduced. With that in mind, we will have to
RESTRICT PARCEL NUMBERS FROM ORGANISATIONS/INDIVIDUALS TO 20
Where there is a will to make a more substantial contribution, we are asking that groups fundraise /collect the equivalent of £5 per parcel and make a donation by cheque/online on our website (see below), when proceeds will be used to support personnel for the duration of their time in Afghanistan and other overseas locations. Cheques/Pos in favour of ‘Support our Soldiers should be sent to Head Office. All such donations will be notified with acknowledgements /messages of support being included with parcels.
Opportunities to participate and donate parcels are extremely limited and MUST be notified to Head Office/your local area coordinator no later than …………………………
1 NOVEMBER and transferred before 14 NOVEMBER
After that date, ad hoc parcels received will NOT be delivered until the New Year and anyone wishing to deliver parcels without prior arrangement, will be advised to retain them until the New Year.
As in previous years, we are endeavouring to provide as festive and fun parcels as we can for those who are overseas, so items such as:
santa hats, novelty ties/socks/undies, mini-cakes, dried fruit, nuts, savoury snacks, sweets, selection packs, miniature Christmas trees and decorations, small unwrapped gifts (e.g. stationery- including 1st class stamps, quality toiletries -excluding glass/aerosols, manicure sets, quality pen sets, purses. wallet, diary) will be most appreciated and can also be donated separately. Parcels should not be wrapped in Christmas paper but can be decorated free-hand or with stickers
( to comply with environmental targets for waste disposal).
