Once a year Headley Court show thanks to the local community, local dignitaries, business leaders and charitable services for their continued and deep-rooted support throughout the year. As the charity has had a long association with supporting Headley court we were delighted to be invited to attend the Annual Beating Retreat.
Beating Retreat is a military tradition dating back to the 1690s. The beating of the drum was used to signal the closing of the camp gates at the end of the day and called troops back to base for the night. The music was provided by the Band of Her Majesty’s Royal Marines Collingwood. We had the opportunity to meet the staff of Headley Court whilst enjoying canapés and drinks on the lawn. The evening ended with a Royal Air Force Chinook helicopter flypast complete with an impressive wave from the pilot whilst leaning perilously out of the window! A fantastic sight!
We were proud to be able to represent the charity at this prestigious event.
