Whilst Bolton is not strictly in my Area, as Regional Co-ordinator for Yorkshire, I was delighted to collect the parcels because I wanted to thank Allison Sherrington personally for her ongoing support for SOS which merited me “going the extra mile” …in every respect.

As a result of your generous donation of £132, boxes have already been sent on RBS’s behalf to several areas of the world where British troops are serving…and this still includes Afghanistan. Yes, there are still British troops serving out in Helmand Province albeit not in a combat role.

The feedback that we receive from the men and women who receive a SOS care parcel is that it really lifts their spirits and puts a smile on their faces.

As well as this fundamental part of SOS’s work, we are also financially supporting the training and provision of Assistance Dogs for injured veterans. This costs £20,000 per dog and we are thrilled to be able to say that we are now raising funds for our second Assistance Dog.

But we couldn’t do any of this without the generous support that we receive from the great British public and so, on behalf of the past and present serving British troops, we want to thank the staff at RBS Bolton and the Morrisons store at Little Hulton for your support.
