Over 300 members of the North East branch of the ‘Badlanders Motorcycle Club’ roared into town at Bents Park, South Shields, on 22 June in support of our troops for Armed Forces Day.

The sixth annual Families’ Fun Day, organised by the ‘Badlanders’ helped by the fabulous weather this year, keeps growing in popularity and as a result the ‘chapter’ recently handed over a  cheque for a whopping £10,000 to  ‘Support our Soldiers’. Regional  Co-ordinator Elaine Middlemiss,  was delighted to accept the cheque on behalf of ‘SOS’ and said “……each year the lads and lassies of the club excel themselves with what is on offer for everyone to enjoy, with the number and variety of stalls and entertainment increasing year on year.  They do a fantastic job and totally dispel the myths that surround all ‘Hells Angels’ motorcyclists, their support of our Armed Forces is second to none…….” CEO of SOS, Agnes Hunter added, “… This is a fantastic donation which will go a long way in assisting SOS with support  for welfare parcels for our overseas  troops in the first instance,  their families at home and  our latest fundraising project to provide an assistance dog for an injured veteran, in order to enhance his/her quality of life and independence which has been blighted by service in a conflict zone.  Our heartfelt thanks go to ‘Badlanders MCC’ and everyone who supported this year’s event   ”
